Texas Southern edges Grambling State 74-72

GRAMBLING, La. (AP) — D’Aris Scarver scored 25 points and Texas Southern held on for a 74-72 victory over Grambling State on Saturday.

Texas Southern (7-9, 3-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) took a 74-70 lead with 2:52 left in the game on two free throws from Madarious Gibbs. Grambling State (1-13, 0-5) responded with a pair of free throws from Chase Comier to make it 74-72 with 2:45 remaining, but neither team managed a basket for the remainder of the game.

Scarver missed a late 3-pointer in the final 30 seconds, and Antwan Scott could not get his shot to go at the other end as Texas Southern held on.

Aaric Murray had 17 points for Texas Southern and Gibbs added 10.

Scott scored 25 points to lead Grambling State. Remond Brown added 17 and Comier had 10.
