PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) — Malcolm Miller scored 14 points and Calvin Godfrey added 11 as Southern University defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 60-56 on Saturday night.
Miller was 5 of 7 from the field, including four 3-pointers. Godfrey was 4 of 8. Trelun Banks added seven points and five assists as Southern won its sixth straight despite shooting just 18 of 51 (35 percent) from the field.
Southern (9-9, 5-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference) played without starting point guard Christopher Hyder, who is pending surgery due to a blood clot in his left shoulder.
Davon Haynes scored 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting to lead Arkansas-Pine Bluff (4-12, 2-2). He made all four free throw attempts, and grabbed 11 rebounds. Tevin Hammond scored 13, and Marcel Mosley added 11 points. The Golden Lions shot just 17 of 49 (34.7 percent) from the field.
