Nathan Hawthorne scored 25 points as the Chieftains won without two starters.

Columbia River’s pressure defense led to some transition offense, as the Falcons had 20 turnovers. And Chieftain posts Chad Pedigo and Torey Jones played strong defense, according to coach David Long.

Columbia River outscored Prairie 35-23 after halftime to pull away. The Chieftains were without starters Cody Wolf (ankle injury) and Andrew Vickers (illness).

“I’m proud of our guys the way they stepped up against a tough team,” coach Long said.

Pedigo had nine rebounds and five assists to go with nine points for the Chieftains. Freshman Spencer Long contributed 15 points, hitting three 3-pointers and making four steals.
