HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — James Woodard scored 17 points as Tulsa beat Marshall 69-52 on Saturday for its first road win of the season.
Tulsa trailed 25-20 at halftime after making just 8 of 32 shots in the opening 20 minutes. The Golden Hurricane made twice as many baskets in the second frame and shot 61.5 percent, leading to 49 points. Tulsa made 5 of 7 shots from behind the arc and 12 of 14 from the free-throw line in the second half.
Rashad Ray added 13 points for Tulsa (8-10, 3-1 C-USA) and sophomore Brandon Swannegan added a career-high 10.
Tulsa took its first lead of the second half, with 9:43 remaining, on a 3-pointer by Woodard during a 10-0 run.
Marshall (6-13, 0-4) was led by Chris Thomas with 14 points and Kareem Canty had 12 and nine assists. The Thundering Herd shot just 32.8 percent for the game.
