NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — J.J. Mann scored 17 points and Tennessee State could not overcome a lackluster first half in losing to the Bruins 79-65 on Saturday night.
Craig Bradshaw poured in 14 points and Evan Bradds added 13. Reece Chamberlain and Drew Windler scored 12 and 11, respectively.
Tennessee State (2-19, 1-6 Ohio Valley Conference) made just 7 of 22 from the field in the first half as Belmont (13-7, 5-1) carried a 22 point lead, 41-19, into the second period.
The Tigers shot 55 percent (18 of 33) in the second half, but made just 4 of 19 (21 percent) from long range while Belmont hit ten 3-pointers and shot 51 percent and recorded 19 assists on 29 field goals.
Patrick Miller led Tiger scorers with 21 points. R.J. Rhett finished with 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
