So massive is Sunday’s NFC Championship between Seattle and San Francisco, it’s pulling other sports into its orbit.
The Seattle Mariners and San Francisco Giants traded barbs on their official Twitter accounts Friday.
It began when the Giants posted a picture of 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick throwing out the first pitch before a Giants game last season.
The Mariners countered by showing Russell Wilson throwing a first pitch.
It escalated from there. The Giants took jabs at the Seahawks’ playoff record. The Mariners responded by noting the Niners’ woes at CenturyLink Field.
Eventually, the Triple-A teams got in the mix, with the Tacoma Rainiers and Fresno Grizzlies weighing in.
When the cyber-dust settled, a friendly wager was made. If the Seahawks win, the Giants will post a photo of mascot Lou Seal going “Feast Mode” on Skittles.
If the Niners win, the Mariner Moose will be photographed kissing his bicep, otherwise known as Kaepernicking.

Another reason to not invest too much energy in college football recruiting: Teenagers are fickle.
Consider Bellevue standout Budda Baker, perhaps the Northwest’s most prized recruit. He announced Friday via Twitter that he has decommitted from Oregon.
“This decision was maybe (made) three weeks ago, but I just had to think and keep talking to other colleges,” Baker told The Seattle Times at the time of his commitment on Dec. 20.
Evidently that talking changed his mind. Multiple media outlets are reporting Baker will make an official visit to UW this weekend.
