AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — The Utah Jazz are without leading scorer Gordon Hayward, who will miss their game at Detroit with a strained left hip flexor.
The 6-foot-8 Hayward is averaging 17.1 points, but Friday night is the fourth straight game he’s missed because of the injury. Hayward has not played since Jan. 7 against Oklahoma City.
Hayward’s absence puts even more pressure on rookie point guard Trey Burke, who is returning to the state where he was a college star at Michigan. Burke led the Wolverines to the Final Four last season before turning pro.
