Washington State University Vancouver will provide management training to Port of Vancouver senior executives under an agreement the port’s commissioners approved this week.

The port’s Board of Commissioners on Tuesday unanimously approved paying WSUV $48,300 this year for faculty members to provide training sessions to 10 to 15 members of the port’s management team. The university “is a tremendous educational resource within our region, and we are truly grateful that they’ve agreed to partner with us on this effort,” Todd Coleman, the port’s executive director, said in a news release.

Port leaders will receive professional guidance in areas aimed at growing business opportunities, including managing organizational change, negotiations and supply chain strategy.

The university will develop a curriculum that could one day be used in classrooms or by other organizations.
