CHICAGO (AP) — The United States will play an exhibition game at Ukraine on March 5, the only match before the start of the team’s pre-World Cup training camp in mid-May in which the full American player pool is available.
The U.S. Soccer Federation said Thursday the site of the game has not yet been determined. It will be played on a FIFA fixture date.
At No. 18, Ukraine is the highest-ranked team that failed to qualify for the World Cup. In three previous meetings, all in the early 1990s, Ukraine beat the U.S. twice with one tie.
With a roster of players nearly all from Major League Soccer, the U.S. opens its 2014 schedule on Feb. 1 against South Korea at Carson, Calif.
