NEW YORK (AP) — Moonlight Song beat Palace by 112 lengths on Thursday in the $75,000 Gold and Roses Stakes for New York breds at Aqueduct.
A 7-year-old gelding trained by Charlton Baker, Moonlight Song improved to 6 for 13 with his first stakes victory. He is now 3 for 3 over Aqueduct’s winterized inner track.
Jose Ortiz was aboard for the six furlongs in 1:10.58 on the strip rated good.
Moonlight Song paid $4.30, $2.20 and $2.10 as the even-money second choice. Palace, the 4-5 favorite, returned $2.10 and $2.10, while Night Maneuver paid $3.10 to show.
