The Portland Timbers could announce a series of roster moves on Wednesday. Reports from Argentina have linked two players to the Timbers: forward Gaston Fernandez and central defender Norberto Paparatto. Both are 30 years old.
On Tuesday, Timbers owner Merritt Paulson on Twitter indicated the Timbers would have four moves to announce, two “key new players,” plus a new home-grown player, and that one Timbers player will be loaned out.
Fernandez has spent many of his 11 professional seasons in Argentina’s top league. Over the last four seasons he has 21 goals in 92 appearances for Club Estudiantes de La Plata.
Paparatto, 6-foot-3, has been with Tigre in Argentina’s top division for the last seven years.
