Brown’s 24 leads High Point past Longwood 83-75

HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) — John Brown scored 24 points and pulled down seven rebounds Wednesday night to lead High Point past Longwood 83-75.

After Tristan Carey’s layup with 16:14 remaining gave Longwood a 38-37 lead, High Point (5-11, 1-2 Big South) scored 13 of the next 16 points to pull ahead by nine. The Lancers never got closer than six again.

Longwood (5-13, 0-3) made 27 of 47 (57.4 percent) from the field and 9 of 19 (47.4 percent) from 3-point range, but committed 19 turnovers which the Panthers turned into 20 points.

High Point lead by as many as 12 points in the second half, when it got to the free throw line 24 times — converting 21.

Devante Wallace hit 4 of 7 from 3-point range while scoring a career-high 21 points in the win. Anthony Lindauer added 11 points and Lorenzo Cugini 10.

Carey finished with 15 points and seven boards.
