Northwest at a ‘crossroads’

Northwest — The Northwest Neighborhood Association is at a crossroads, according to a statement from President Dave Kammeyer in the latest neighborhood newsletter. That’s because in its 30th year as an official neighborhood resident participation has declined to a point where it’s getting harder to keep the association active. A number of board members are moving on, and Kammeyer said a decision needs to be made this year to “continue or do we shut down?”

“If no one is willing to fill at least two of the officer positions, then I will have to notify the city that we are no longer ‘active,'” he wrote. The next quarterly neighborhood meeting is Jan. 23 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Franklin Elementary School, 5206 Franklin St.
