WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — It’s the ultimate Hail Marry.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League are going into the wedding business. Starting this summer, couples can now get hitched on the turf at Investors Group Field.
Bombers spokeswoman Kim Babij-Gesell tells the Winnipeg Free Press the club wants to make the stadium the city’s premier place for weddings.
The wedding biz is the brainchild of new Bombers President and CEO Wade Miller, who is looking for marketing opportunities for the club’s new stadium.
The Bombers will have a booth at a Winnipeg wedding show this weekend for those who may need a chapel with seating for more than 33,000 guests. Packages start with a two-hour field rental. For an extra fee, the JumboTron is available.
