Grant Gibb scored a post-up basket and was fouled to give the Monarchs the winning points in a back-and-forth 2A Greater St. Helens League game.
A Ridgefield technical foul added two free throws for Mark Morris after Gibb’s go-ahead play.
The Spudders led 70-66 midway through the overtime period, but the Monarchs scored the final eight points.
“They did what good teams do and handled the situation,” Ridgefield coach Nick Veys said.
Ridgefield (8-4, 1-1 Trico) had a transition chance in the final seconds of the fourth quarter, but didn’t convert.
The host Monarchs (10-3, 1-1) took advantage of their free-throw advantage, making 20 of 28 foul shots. The Spudders were 5 for 8 from the line.
Ridgefield’s Neil Biggerstaff led all scorers with 20 points, and David Potter added 18.
Four Mark Morris players scored in double figures, with Gibb and Hayden Tapani each tallying 18 points.
