CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — Max Jacobsen scored 15 points on 7-of-7 shooting as Northern Arizona cruised to a 70-36 victory over Southern Utah Monday night.
Northern Arizona (6-9, 3-1 Big Sky) opened the game on a 12-0 run and, after a dunk by Cal Hanks got Southern Utah on the board nearly 5 minutes into the game, rattled off another dozen straight to take a 24-2 lead midway through the first half.
Southern Utah (1-12, 0-4) turned the ball over on its first three possessions. A.J. Hess missed a 3-pointer on the fourth possession but SUU got the ball back after it went out of bounds off of the Lumberjacks — only to turn it over again.
NAU made 27 of 46 (58.7 percent) field goals, tying its season high set against Montana on Jan. 2. SUU shot 12 of 50 from the floor.
Kris Yanku had 13 points and eight boards for NAU.
