ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Georgia cornerback Shaq Wiggins has been released on bail following his arrest for driving with a suspended license.
According to Athens-Clarke County police spokeswoman Hilda Sorrow, Wiggins was pulled over Sunday night for speeding after he was clocked driving 52 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone. Sorrow says the arresting officer’s routine check on Wiggins’ license found Wiggins failed to appear in court on an earlier charge, resulting in the license being suspended. There was no available information on the earlier charge.
Wiggins was released from the Athens-Clarke County Jail about 2 hours later on $2,000 bond.
Wiggins led Georgia with two interceptions, including one returned 39 yards for a touchdown, as a freshman in 2013.
