MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Jamel Waters tied a career-high with 27 points, hitting 4 of 5 3-pointers, to lead Alabama State to a 77-64 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Monday night.
Bobby Brown contributed 17 points and DeMarcus Robinson added 11 for Alabama State (9-6, 3-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Waters also had seven assists.
ARPB (4-11, 2-1) held a 30-18 lead at the 5:48 mark of the first half, but the Hornets had a 22-9 run that went through the first four minutes of the second half. The Hornets took a 40-39 lead following a three-point play by Brandon Graham.
UAPB’s Shawn Tingle made a layup with 5:46 remaining in the game to tie the score at 58. The Hornets followed with a 19-6 run for the victory.
