Troy hands UALR first Sun Belt loss, 75-62

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Jeff Mullahey had 17 points with nine rebounds and Tevin Calhoun added 17 points of his own as Troy defeated Arkansas-Little Rock 75-62 Saturday night.

Troy (7-9, 2-2 Sun Belt) closed the first half on an 11-5 run with Mullahey making a layup and two free throws and Westley Hinton hitting a 3-pointer to grab a 35-28 halftime lead. A 3-pointer from Mullahey put the Trojans up 51-40 early in the second half.

UALR (8-8, 3-1) climbed back within five after two Josh Hagins free throws, but Troy countered with a 14-6 surge to make it 72-59 with 1:37 remaining.

Troy outrebounded UALR 46-33 and made 10 3-pointers. JC Bonny scored 11 points and Westley Hinton had 10.

UALR shot 39.7 percent from the field to Troy’s 37.7, but went 4 of 23 from beyond the arc. Will Neighbor scored 15 points and James White contributed 12.
