Continuing construction work in the Salmon Creek area will close a section of southbound Interstate 205 two nights next week, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
All southbound lanes of I-205 will be closed from the I-5 junction to Northeast 134th Street starting at 10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, according to WSDOT. The closures will continue until 5 a.m. the following mornings.
The closures will allow crews to install wooden framework over the southbound lanes of I-205 in preparation for a new northbound off-ramp from Interstate 5 to Northeast 139th Street. The $133 million Salmon Creek Interchange Project is rebuilding the convergence of I-5 and I-205, including a new bridge carrying 139th Street over the freeways.
During next week’s closures, southbound through traffic will be diverted to I-5.
Drivers heading to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center should exit at Northeast 179th Street (Exit 9) and follow a marked detour. Northbound traffic will not be affected.
