CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — Deon Mitchel and Wes Washpun scored 17 each on Saturday night and Northern Iowa remained unbeaten at home by defeating Drake 76-66.
Over the final six minutes, UNI outscored Drake 23-8 to rally from a five-point deficit to a comfortable lead at the conclusion. UNI made only six of its first 24 from 3-point range but hit all three 3-point attempts during that closing stretch.
The Panthers trailed 61-58 when Washpun’s layup with 4:05 to play sparked a 10-point run. On the next possession, UNI took the lead for good at 63-61 on Matt Bohannon’s 3-pointer with 3:37 to go.
Seth Tuttle and Bohannon each scored 11 and Nate Buss added 10 points for the Panthers (9-7, 3-1 Missouri Valley).
