JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Chris Olivier scored 15 points, on 6-of-8 shooting, to lead Eastern Illinois over Jacksonville State 56-48 on Saturday.

Eastern Illinois (5-11, 2-3 Ohio Valley) scored the first eight points of the game and held Jacksonville State (8-12, 2-3) off the scoreboard until Avery Moore’s 3-pointer after 5:20 had passed off the clock.

JSU raced back to momentarily take the lead for about a minute and a half, but Eastern Illinois recovered the lead with 9:48 left in the half on Olivier’s dunk and never trailed again.

Eastern led by as much as 18 in the second half, and while Jacksonville State was able to trim the lead to four on two occasions after intermission, they weren’t able to get over the hump.

Teraes Clemmons led Jacksonville State scorers with 12 points.
