BALTIMORE (AP) — Dylon Cormier scored 25 points, adding to his season average in helping Loyola (Md) sneak by Lehigh 72-68 in conference play on Saturday.
Cormier nailed 10-of-18 shooting while Jordan Latham added 14 for Loyola.
Loyola (7-8, 2-2), a newcomer to the Patriot League, led 35-32 at the break with leading-scorer Cormier — sixth in the NCAA with 22.3 ppg — collecting 12 of those points.
The Greyhounds kept that momentum flowing into the second period, upping that spread to 50-36 over the Mountain Hawks when Latham got inside for a layup at 13:44.
On cue, Lehigh (8-9, 1-3) kicked it’s offense in gear getting to within four points, 61-57, on a Stefan Cvrkalj trey at 5:36, but Cormier’s scoring efforts down the stretch coupled with Loyola shooting (7 of 11) from the penalty stripe in the final minute stopped Lehigh in its tracks.
Mackey McKnight hit 17 points for Lehigh.
