SAN DIEGO (AP) — Christopher Anderson scored 20 points, landing 9-of-15 field goals while Duda Sanadze added 22 and San Diego beat Loyola Marymount 74-67 on Thursday night.
Loyola Marymount (10-7, 2-3 West Coast Conference) led at halftime 28-25 after leading by as many as nine points before the break. But San Diego (10-7, 1-3 WCC) took over in the second period and led 38-33 on a 13-5 run capped by a Dennis Kramer jumper five minutes in.
Loyola refused to bow down and battled back to within one point five times in the second half, the last occurring at 6:54 while trailing the Toreros 52-51. San Diego, feeling the pressure executed a 10-3 run and an 8 point advantage leading into the final minutes which was more than enough to lock in the win. The Toreros controlled the paint, outrebounding the Lions 37-23.
Anthony Ireland scored 18 points for Loyola.
