SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona State has turned to NFL executive Ray Anderson as its new athletic director.
He replaces Steve Patterson, who left in November to become the athletic director at Texas.
Anderson spent eight seasons as the NFL’s executive vice president of football operations before announcing in December that he was leaving to pursue other opportunities. He will remain with the NFL through the Super Bowl before starting at ASU on Feb. 5.
Anderson began his career as a lawyer and opened his own sports agency, AR Sports, which merged with Octagon in 2001. He also lettered in football and baseball at Stanford and graduated from Harvard Law School.
