Woodland — Since meeting Buddy Carr Jr., in early December, Donna Bergeron continues to support him with meals and nights at motel rooms in hope the 50-year-old who has been homeless for most of his adult life will stay off the streets. But the Woodland woman, featured in a Dec. 15 Columbian story, said this month that Carr — whom she now considers a friend — will soon need to pay his own way because she and her husband simply can’t afford to keep him under their wing much longer. She’s hopeful that a few potential job opportunities, including one washing dishes, will pan out. She gave him a guitar for Christmas and said it was heartwarming to see him happily strum the gift. “I just hope he can find work,” Bergeron said. “We need to pay our bills. It’s crucial if he wants to stay off the streets that he now supports himself.”
