Prairie View beats Alcorn State in overtime 70-67

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) — John Brisco scored 21 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:15 left in overtime, as Prairie View A&M came back to defeat Alcorn State 70-67 Monday night.

Brisco made two free throws with 1:18 remaining in regulation to tie the game at 60. He had a steal and just missed a jumper as time expired in the second period.

Montrael Scott, who contributed five points in overtime, totaled 15 for the game, hitting 3 of 5 3-point attempts for Prairie View (3-11, 1-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) and Hershey Robinson added 11.

Alcorn State (3-11, 0-2) led 29-27 at the half and was ahead 47-40 midway in the second half. The Panthers led 58-55 after Brisco made a layup with 3:53 remaining. The Braves took a 60-58 lead following Devontae Hampton’s jumper with 2:33 remaining in the game.

Octavius Brown led Alcorn State with 22 points and Marquis Vance had 18.
