Farewell, Bowl Championship Series. We aren’t going to miss you.

First of all, you weren’t even a series. The name came about because no one could think of anything better. Seriously.

Second, 9/10ths of the country is tired of the Southeastern Conference playing in every BCS title game. (OK, they weren’t in all, just most. Like 10 of the 16 played. Whatever.)

So bring on the four-team playoff and we’ll all see how much better college football can be. … We hope.

Remember Lleyton Hewitt? The Australian tennis player who dominated the game in the early 2000s? Spent 80 weeks at No. 1??

At age 32, he’s still swinging a racket. On Sunday, he swung it better than Roger Federer.

Hewitt won the Brisbane International over Federer 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 for his first title since 2010. It was the 27th meeting between the two.

“It’s been a while since I won a trophy,” Hewitt said.

Yeah, like when he beat Federer to win in Halle, Germany in 2010.

Straight from the “How To Handle The Media” handbook of Rasheed Wallace, Marshawn Lynch is going to be a little light in the paycheck.

The Seahawks running back was fined $50,000 for violating the league’s media policy.

Lynch spoke for less than 90 seconds to the media on Friday, the longest answer 24 words. His usual response during the season was to politely decline to comment.

At least he didn’t keep repeating, “Both teams played hard.”
