BANGOR, Maine (AP) — Dimitry Akanda-Coronel scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as Maine used a strong first half to take down Binghamton 82-66 on Sunday.
Maine (3-10, 1-0 America East Conference) opened a 49-28 halftime lead, led by 13 points from Kilian Cato. The Black Bears shot 56 percent in the first half and forced 13 first-half turnovers by Binghamton (3-11, 0-1).
After falling behind 14-11 early, Zarko Valjarevic highlighted a 16-2 Maine run with eight points as the Black Bears opened a double-digit lead.
Cato had 17 points for Maine and Valjarevic scored 14.
Jordan Reed led Binghamton with 20 points and 15 rebounds while Marlon Beck dished out 10 assists.
Maine avenged a loss to the Bearcats last year, and has now won eight of its last nine games against Binghamton.
