BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — Ben Aird and Zach Nelson combined to score 48 points and grab 24 rebounds as Utah Valley earned its first road win of the season, 82-74, over Cal State-Bakersfield Saturday, the inaugural Western Athletic Conference game for both schools.

The Wolverines and Roadrunners both joined the WAC officially on July 1, 2013.

Aird led Utah Valley (7-7) with 26 points and 13 boards. Nelson scored 22 points and nabbed 11 boards. The pair combined for more rebounds (24) than Bakersfield had as a team (23). Holton Hunsaker and Mitch Bruneel added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Isiah Grayson and Stefon Johnson each scored 15 points to lead the Roadrunners, with Aly Ahmed adding another 14 points.

The game was the first conference game at home for CSU-Bakersfield (7-8) since March 3, 2007 as a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association in its first season as a Division I school.
