UC Irvine runs past San Diego Christian 91-56

IRVINE, Calif. (AP) — Will Davis II led the way for UC Irvine with 17 points and seven rebounds in a 91-56 victory over NAIA San Diego Christian on Saturday night.

After a relatively low scoring first half in which Irvine (8-7) held a 31-19 advantage, the Anteaters exploded for 60 second-half points including a 16-0 run midway through the period.

John Ryan and Chris McNealy added 12 points each for Irvine which shot 58.6 percent from the field and had 13 different players score.

San Diego Christian had 17 offensive rebounds, but shot only 29.9 percent from the field. Irvine held a 45-33 edge on the glass overall.

Michael Lambert led San Diego Christian with 12 points.

Irvine wrapped up its nonconference schedule and opens Big West Conference play on Thursday against Long Beach State. San Diego Christian (3-5) lost its ninth and final exhibition game against Division I opponents this year.
