St. Bonaventure rolls past winless Cornell 81-57

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. (AP) — Jordan Gathers scored 20 points, while Matthew Wright added 16 with six rebounds and six assists to help St. Bonaventure put away Cornell 81-57 Saturday.

The Bonnies (10-4) shot 50 percent from the field and were 10 of 22 on 3-point attempts. Dion Wright had 16 points and Charlon Koof chipped in 12.

St. Bonaventure was nursing a 17-14 lead when Matthew Wright and Gathers each hit 3-pointers. Gathers sank two more from beyond the arc during a 15-7 run to take a 10-point lead into the break. The Bonnies pulled away in the second half as Dion Wright had 10 points during a 26-9 surge, pushing the score to 66-41 with 9:41 left.

Cornell (0-13) never led in the game and committed 14 turnovers. Nolan Cressler scored 19 points and Devin Cherry contributed 13. The Big Red are on a 19-game losing streak dating back to last season.
