SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Cameron Golden scored 20 points to lead Arkansas State over Texas State 74-69 on Saturday night.
Ed Townsel scored 12 points, Kirk Van Slyke 11 and Kendrick Washington and Brandon Reed 10 apiece for the Red Wolves (9-4, 2-0 Sun Belt), who won their fourth consecutive game. Arkansas State shot 53.3 percent, including 14 of 22 3-point attempts for 63.6 percent.
Joel Wright scored 22 points, Reid Koenen 16 and Emani Gant 11 for the Bobcats (4-11, 0-2), who dropped their third straight.
All of Koenen’s points came in the second half when Texas State rallied from a six-point halftime deficit. He tied the game at 63 with 3:33 left but Golden then scored seven of the Red Wolves’ final 11 points, including two free throws with 11 seconds left for a 72-67 lead. TSU’s Naiel Smith scored with 6 seconds left but two Townsel free throws sealed the outcome.
