Mount St. Mary’s beats Norfolk State 104-84

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Julian Norfleet scored 31 points and had 10 assists as Mount St. Mary’s got its first road win of the year by beating Norfolk State 104-84 on Friday.

Norfleet, playing minutes from his hometown of Virginia Beach, scored 15 points in the first half on 7-of-8 shooting.

Mount St. Mary’s started the game 10 of 11 from the field, including 5 of 6 from 3-point range. At the half, Mount St. Mary’s was shooting 75.9 percent, including 10 of 14 from beyond the arc. Norfolk State made its first ten shots of the game and shot 71.4 percent in the first half, but trailed 59-37 at halftime.

Rashad Whack added 23 points for Mount St. Mary’s (4-9), as five players reached double figures. The Mountaineers shot 68.6 percent for the game and made 18 of 25 from long range.

Norfolk State (8-7) was led by Brandon Goode with 19 points.
