High Point holds off D-II Lees McRae, 85-78

HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) — Adam Weary and John Brown each scored twice in the final four minutes to lift High Point to an 85-78 win over Division II Lees McRae Friday night.

Brown’s layup with 3:31 left gave High Point a 77-75 lead, but Donte Falls converted a pair of free throws to tie the game at 77. Weary’s layup with 2:13 to play put Panthers ahead for good and Brown’s layup made it 81-77 with 1:20 left. Weary added a jumper and Derrell Edwards added a pair of free throws for the final margin.

Brown scored 25 points to lead the Panthers (3-9). Lorenzo Cugini added another 18 points and Devante Wallace added 13. Weary finished with 12 points and six assists.

Raul Tutton led Lees McRae with 21 points and Mike Chamber, Darius Smith each added another 17 while Darryl Bond contributed 10 points.
