Skyview’s defense stepped up in the fourth quarter to deny Class 2A King’s Way Christian a big victory over a 4A program.
“I’ve got to give King’s Way a lot of credit,” Skyview coach Matt Gruhler said. “Coach (Daven) Harmeling had his boys ready to play. And they played like it was the most important game on their schedule. They outworked us for three quarters.”
King’s Way led 38-36 after three quarters. But Skyview limited the Knights to five points in the final quarter.
Parker Ickert had 29 points for King’s Way, including seven 3-pointers.
“We really couldn’t slow him down,” Gruhler said Ickert. “He was hitting shots with guys in his face.”
