NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) — The National College Players Association will fly a banner over the Rose Bowl before the BCS championship game is played with the message: “All Players United for Concussion Reform. Wake Up NCAA!”
Earlier this season players around the country, including at Georgia, Georgia Tech and Northwestern, started the “All Players United” campaign by playing games with APU written in black marker on wrist tape and other gear.
Ramogi Huma, executive director of the NCPA, says the group wants the NCAA to earmark some of the additional $300 million in revenue the new College Football Playoff will generate for schools to deal with treating and preventing concussions.
Huma says the banner will fly over the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday. The game starts at about 8:20 p.m.
