SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Brendan Lane tied a career-high with 26 points and collected a career-best 17 rebounds to lead Pepperdine over Santa Clara 70-61 on Thursday night.

Lane, who is playing only one season at Pepperdine as a graduate transfer from UCLA, also blocked four shots for the Waves (10-5, 3-0 West Coast Conference), off to their first 3-0 conference start since 2009-10. It is also the quickest Pepperdine has made it to 10 wins since 2004-05, which was also accomplished in 15 games.

Jeremy Major and Malcolm Brooks each added 11 points for the Waves.

Pepperdine, which led by nine points earlier in the second half, was up only 60-59 with 4 minutes left before finishing the game on a 10-2 run during which the Broncos made only 1 of 7 shots.

Jared Brownridge led the Broncos (8-8, 1-2) with 18 points. Brandon Clark added 16 points and Evan Roquemore 13.
