Beamon carries Manhattan past St. Peter’s 74-62

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) — George Beamon scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Manhattan keep its perfect road record with a 72-62 win over St. Peter’s in a foul-marred game Thursday afternoon.

The Japers (9-2, 2-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) were 29 of 38 from the line, courtesy of 26 fouls called on St. Peter’s. Beamon was 4 of 14 and Michael Alvarado, who had 13 points, hit 9 of 12.

The Peacocks (4-7, 0-2) converted 28 St. Peter’s fouls into a 31-of-39 performance at the line. Desi Washington was 9 of 9 for 17 points and Trevis Wyche was 10 of 10 for all of his scoring. However, St. Francis shot only 29 from the field.

The Jaspers have won seven straight games as they are off to their best straight in 12 seasons, and have won nine straight on the road. Rhamel Brown had eight rebounds, seven points, four blocks and three steals.
