Students and faculty from WSUV’s Creative Media and Digital Culture Program will perform in a laptop orchestra and will exhibit augmented and virtual reality art at the community launch of #nextchapter from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the lobby at City Hall, 415 W. Sixth St.

The #nextchapter project is a community reading and conversation program to stimulate innovation and opportunities through deeper understanding of the most compelling cultural trends of the emerging digital economy.

The program will distribute 500 free copies of the book “Now You See It: How Technology and Brain Science Will Transform Schools and Business for the 21st Century” by Cathy N. Davidson. The author, who teaches at Duke University in Durham, N.C., will speak at the event via Skype.

The project is led by Dene Grigar, director of the Creative Media and Digital Culture program at Washington State University Vancouver and Jack Burkman, Vancouver city councilor.

Community members are invited to read Davidson’s book and to participate in activities from Thursday through May 9. For details, contact Dene Grigar, 360-546-9487 or dgrigar@hashnextchapter.com.
