Junior Godinho of Union wrestling was voted The Columbian’s high school winter sports athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Feb. 22.
Godinho collected 53 percent of the 787 votes cast by fans to beat out Gunnar Metzger of Hudson’s Bay wrestling, who had 40 percent.
Godinho won the 132-pound state title in Class 4A, beating two-time state champion Noah Cuzzetto of Lake Stevens in overtime to win the final.
The other nominees were Prairie swimmer Jaron Hamlik, Camas swimmer Kasey Calwell and Union wrestler Alex Berfanger.
Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Monday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Thursday.
