ARIEL — Campground reservations for PacifiCorp’s Cresap Bay and Cougar Camp parks along the North Fork of the Lewis River will be accepted beginning at 9 a.m Saturday.
Reservations can be made online for the first time.
To reserve online, go to www.lr-reservations.com. A $5 fee will be charged for all campground reservations, changes and cancellations. Credit card payment will be accepted so the reservations can be confirmed immediately.
Individuals will be limited to four reservations for the 2014 season due to the popularity of the campgrounds.
A toll-free reservation line also will be available beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday on a call-back basis. The number is 1-855-414-0004. Given the call volume, it may take several days for a reservation agent to return calls.
Individual sites at Cresap Bay and Cougar cost $20 per night.
The utility offers 318 campsites, hot showers, boat ramps and recreational vehicle stations at its system of parks along the river.
PacifiCorp operates Merwin, Yale and Swift dams.
Cresap Bay on Merwin Reservoir will be open May 23 though Sept 30. Cougar, on Yale Reservoir, will be open May 23 through Labor Day. Beaver Bay, also on Yale, will be open April 26 through Sept. 30. Swift Forest Camp, on Swift Reservoir, will be open April 26 until the end of late deer hunting season in mid-November.
Saddle Dam and Yale Park boat ramps on Yale, and Speelyai Bay boat ramp on Merwin, are day-use facilities.
No parking fees are charged except on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from Memorial Day weekend to Sept. 15, when a $3 parking charge is in effect.
Day-use parking passes for the summer are available for $20. They are sold at the Woodland Information Center and a fee booths located at parks during hours the booths are staffed.
No alcohol is allowed at PacifiCorp’s camps and reservoirs.
Overnight parking is available on a limited basis at Saddle Dam Park for dispersed campsites along Yale Reservoir and at Swift Forest Camp for Swift Reservoir shoreline sites.
