The countdown begins: two days until the start of the meteorological spring; ten days until daylight savings time begins; 21 days until the vernal equinox (first day of spring); and for you sports fans, 32 days until major league baseball begins. Lots to look forward to, yes?
Spring is just around the corner and trees and shrubs are beginning to bud out, at least those that didn’t succumb to the harsh cold weather we had this winter.
And speaking of cold, yes, we have yet another potential bout of winter weather just in time as the merry month of March rolls in. If some computer models are correct, we could get a brief blast of cold air down through the Columbia River Gorge as modified arctic air fills the Columbia basin beginning late Friday. At the same time, models forecast moisture at times, which could give those areas that are saturated enough with the cold dry air some wintry precipitation. Okay, I use the four letter word — snow.
Nothing is certain as I write this column Wednesday afternoon, so stay tuned for the latest as the forecast gets fine-tuned for the weekend.
