Young trap shooters to compete on Saturday

Approximately 60 high school shooters will compete Saturday at the Vancouver Trap Club in the Woodland Beaver Open.

Limited only to high-school shooters, the event will include 105 targets, with 25 shot from 16 yards behind the trap house, 25 from 22 yards behind the hose, 25 Continental targets at 16 yards and 15 pair of double targets at 16 yards.

The shoot is a joint effort of the Woodland High School trap team and the Vancouver Trap Club, 11100 N.E. 76th St.

There will be varsity and junior varsity (first-year) divisions plus male and female divisions. Awards will be given for high overall male and female, high overall teams of five shooters and top three for each event.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. and shooting at 10 a.m. Advance registration is required online at woodlandtrap@gmail.com

The cost is $25 per shooter. Shotgun shells will be available at $7 per box.

The trap club will not be open to the general public on Saturday, only high-school shooters.
