Wildlife League to hear about deer hunting

The Vancouver Wildlife League will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, 2108 Grand Blvd.

Blacktail deer hunting specialist Ray Croswell of Washougal will be the guest speaker.

The public is welcome.

Ducks Unlimited banquet slated March 8 in Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD — A dozen guns, fishing rods, firewood, wildlife prints, gift baskets and more will be auctioned and raffled March 8 at the annual banquet of the Lewis River chapter of Ducks Unlimited.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. at Ridgefield Community Center, 210 N. Main Ave.

Tickets cost $55 for a single, $75 per couple and $30 for youth age 17 and younger. A dinner of prime rib will be served.

The banquet is a family event and each youth gets a ticket guaranteeing a prize. There will be a duck calling contest for youth who choose to participate.

Trolling with herring to be discussed

PORTLAND — A free program on using herring to catch Columbia River spring chinook will begin at 6:30 p.m. March 6 at Fishermen’s Marine and Outdoor, 1120 N. Hayden Meadows Drive.

Thad Tyler of Broken T Guide Service will be the guest speaker.
