Man arrested for alleged DUI following rollover SR 14 crash

A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants after a single-vehicle crash Saturday night on state Highway 14.

Charles Graves, 54, whose residence is unknown, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu west on the highway when his vehicle crashed and rolled just west of South Lieser Road, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn. The crash was reported at 9:28 p.m.

When the Malibu came to rest, it partially blocked one of the lanes, and responding personnel blocked both lanes of the highway for a brief period of time, Finn said.

Graves got himself out of the vehicle but was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, Finn said.

Finn said Graves was processed for the alleged DUI charge and released to hospital staff. He was treated and then released.

After emergency responders blocked the highway’s two westbound lanes, a caller reported that some motorists on the Highway 14 westbound onramp from Lieser Road were turning around and going the wrong direction on the onramp, Finn said.

“We don’t like having the road closed, we want to keep traffic moving as freely and safely as possible,” Finn said. “We just ask that people be patient with us.”
