Lincoln’s post player was strong. But Prairie’s press was stronger.
Using their defensive pressure, the Prairie girls basketball wore down the Abes to win 60-49 Friday and advance to the bi-district championship game.
The Falcons will play Wilson of Tacoma at 8 p.m. Saturday at Pacific Lutheran University.
“Our press, it always outlasts them,” Prairie coach Brett Johnson said. “I think they had like 30 turnovers.”
Prairie countered Lincoln’s solid inside attack by moving its post, Emily Peters, to the perimeter.
“Emily started hitting some 3s, and that really hurt them,” Johnson said.
Nicole Goecke had 14 points to pace the Falcons, and Cherita Daugherty and Peters added 11.
