2014 TECH-SAVVY SUPERINTENDENT AWARD
Vancouver Public Schools’ Superintendent Steve Webb was one of eight superintendents nationwide to receive the 2014 Tech-Savvy Superintendent Award, given annually by eSchool News. Superintendents are selected for their outstanding educational technology leadership and vision. Since becoming superintendent in 2008, Webb has provided leadership for Vancouver Public Schools’ digital transformation.
COMPASS AWARD
Sirius Bonner, Clark College special adviser for diversity and equity, was presented with the Compass Award at the Urban Spark Collective’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Breakfast on Jan. 18 in Clark College’s Gaiser Student Center. The award is given to an individual or organization that carves a new path for diversity and inclusion in education, in the workplace or through community engagement. Bonner has introduced new programs to Clark since joining in 2011 and has overseen the opening of a new Diversity Center on the main campus.
WSU–2014 FACULTY DIVERSITY AWARD
Associate Professor Dana Baker has been named recipient of Washington State University’s 2014 Faculty Diversity Award for her work advocating for people with disabilities, and will receive the award at the Celebrating Excellence Recognition Banquet on March 28 in Pullman. Baker works in the School of Politics, Philosophy and Public Affairs at WSU Vancouver and is spearheading the “Enhancing Neurodiversity at WSUV” project. She serves on the university’s Diversity Council and as associate director of academic advising in the College of Arts and Sciences.
