Taylor Leier scored two goals and had two assists, and Dominic Turgeon had two goals and one assists as the Portland Winterhawks tied a team record with their 15th straight win by knocking off the Kamloops Blazers 7-4 Friday in Western Hockey League action at Kamloops, B.C.
Portland’s 15-game winning streak ties a franchise record, previously set in the 1979-80 and 1997-98 seasons.
Portland (41-12-2-3) exploded out of the gate with a dominant first period, scoring four goals and outshooting Kamloops 24-6 in the frame.
Midway through the third and the score 5-3, Portland ended any hope of a Kamloops comeback when Leier and Turgeon scored 33 seconds apart to give the Hawks a 7-3 lead.
