3A district girls basketball: Kelso 54, Mountain View 47

Kady Bruce made three 3-pointers in the first quarter, helping the Kelso Hilanders to a fast start en route to a 54-47 victory over Mountain View in the first round of the Class 3A District 4 girls basketball tournament Wednesday at Hudson’s Bay High School.

Bruce would make two more from long distance to finish with five 3-pointers and 21 points. Loryn Musgrove added 12 points for Kelso.

Kelso will face Columbia River on Thursday night in the second round.

With Wednesday’s win, Kelso also has qualified for next week’s bi-district tournament.

Mountain View’s season came to an end.

The future looks promising for the Thunder. Sophomore Hailey Hartney scored 11 of her 17 points in the second half, as the Thunder tried to rally from a 12-point halftime deficit. Christina Lundy, also a sophomore, added 13 points for the Thunder.
